The Boston Celtics are a professional basketball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Their 16 NBA championships are the most for any NBA franchise.They won championships in 1957, '59, '60, '61, '62, '63, '64, '65, '66, '68, '69, '74, '76, '81, '84, '86. The Celtics current arena is TD Banknorth Garden Arena and their current Head Coach is Doc Rivers. Boston has produced nine Hall of Famers most notably Arnold "Red" Auerbach. Notable players of the past for the Celtics include Bill Russel, Robert Parrish, Reggie Lewis, and the biggest of them all Larry Bird. Larry led the Celtics from 1979-1992 and was a three time MVP of the League, two time Finals MVP, and three time Champion, he was also the Rookie of the Year, and was apart of the legendary gold medalist Olympic team that inlcuded Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson. Reggie Lewis was considered Birds successor but stunned the Boston world and broke the communitys heart when he died of a heart attack in a offseason pickup game after his '93 season.
