The Boston Red Sox are a Major League Baseball(MLB) team based in Boston Massachusetts that was established in 1901. Their homefield is Fenway Park which opened on April 20,1912. They are commonly referred to as the Bosox, The Old Town Team, or just as The Sox. They have won the World Series six times (1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, 2004). 2004 marked the first World Series they won since getting ride of the great Babe Ruth. After getting rid of the Babe the rival New York Yankees had tremendous success and the Red Sox did not. This became known as the "Curse of the Bambino" which haunted Boston for decades. Boston has had many Hall of Famers who have played for them, most notably Ted Williams, Cy Young, Babe Ruth, and Carlton Fisk. The stars of todays Boston Red Sox include David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Coco Crisp(Pictured), Jason Varitek, Curt Schilling, and the newly aquired Japanese player Daisuke Matsuzaka.
